Resource management

RHI resource management
The RHI resource management aims to maximise resource conservation and energy efficiency and to minimise CO2 emissions in the extraction of raw materials and the energy-intensive production of refractory materials.

Total investments in environmental projects in 2010: 6.5 million euros.

Focal points
Raw material and energy-efficient production and the increased use of recycling make sense in terms of sustainable climate protection. They serve to enhance energy efficiency and save raw materials, thus supporting sustainable economy.

Moreover, recultivation – the restoration and establishment of near-nature habitats – is another integral part of RHI’s resource management.

Beyond mandatory environmental standards and regulatory requirements
Compliance with environmental standards, norms and regulatory requirements is a matter of course to us, but it’s not enough. Our specialists in research and development, engineering and production constantly strive to reduce RHI’s environmental footprint beyond legal requirements.

Comprehensive process
Environmentally relevant improvements are based on quantitative environmental goals and their periodic review as well as the assessment of the environmental impact in all organisational units. The results provide the basis for further improvements.
